Who "We" Are
Maney Communications is a consulting company. Sean Maney does the writing, the web production, the layout, empties the trash, and fixes the copier when it breaks. In other words, Maney Communications is a one-man shop.
Why say “we” throughout the web site if it’s really “I”? We sounds better for one! Using the first person pronoun “I” in marketing language seems odd at best and incredibly boastful at worst. “I can deliver cost-effective marketing solutions to you with exceptional customer service.” Sounds too infomercial-like for me.
The second reason for the use of “we” is that one person can’t do it all. I do 90 percent of client work myself. I will always be your primary contact. I have worked hard over the years to hone my writing skills, learn layout and design, and stay current with web production. However, there are things that are just outside my knowledge base. For such things, I subcontract the work out to trusted and skilled partners.
For example, you may want a new web site written, designed, and deployed. Maney Communications would gladly accept this project. Specifically, I would write the copy and design the site, working closely with you throughout the iterations. I would offer ideas on how to best structure the web site and deploy it. I would then contract with a web development partner (another contractor) to actually build the site structure and deploy the site. Could I structure and deploy the site myself? Probably, but it’s not a refined skill of mine. Through subcontracting, structure and deployment is done by a specialist who can complete high-quality work quickly.
My limited use of subcontractors is designed to provide you with the best result in the most cost-effective manner. I will make you aware whenever a subcontractor is working on part of your project, and rest assured, I will always assume responsibility for all work completed.
On a similar note, I recognize that you have likely worked with other marketing professionals before and that you may continue to work with them on certain projects. Great! I am happy to work with these people even if they may offer some of the services that I do. Creative minds working toward a common goal often come up with great solutions!
Maney Communications is Sean Maney. Yet, with occasional subcontractors and other marketing professionals in the mix, “we” seems the right word!
